About me

My name is Erik Wikström and Im born 1994. I live in Stockholm, Sweden and I'm composing scores for film and other media.

I have always been interested in music and I started playing the piano at an early age. I grew up surrounded by a variety of different genres, from Electric Light Orchestra, The Beatles, Jean Michel Jarre to Mozart Bach and Handel. During my early piano years i soon found out that I was interested in creating emotions through music. I often imagined different scenarios and thought how it would feel with a certain type of music. My first encounter with film music that really touched me was with The Lion King from 1994 with music from the well known german composer Hans Zimmer. Since then, Hans Zimmer has been one of my top inspirations, among others such as John Williams, Thomas Newman and Howard Shore.

One day a friend of mine asked me if I had seen a certain movie. I had not, but I had listened to the soundtrack of the movie. That's when I understood my passion for film music was greater than my friends'.

To create scores I am using my MIDI keyboard and the software East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold, all run in the DAW Reaper.
